Calderglen Harriers Trail Running Festival
The Calderglen Harriers Trail Running Festival is an evening of trail running held in Calderglen Country Park, East Kilbride. The event is conducted under UK Athletics Rules and holds a Scottish Athletics Permit. The festival includes a variety of distances held on marshalled trail courses:
- 10k trail extending towards Langlands Moss.
- 5k trail located entirely within the park.
- 3k trail (The Ewan Murray Memorial race).
- 1k trail for younger participants.
- Toddler Dash for pre-school children.
The event uses chip timing provided by ProTay for the timed races. Participants must be at least 15 years old for the 5k and 17 years old for the 10k based on birth year regulations. Registration takes place at the East Kilbride Sports Club within the park on the evening of the event.
The courses are suitable for trail or road shoes, but spikes are not permitted. The trails are not suitable for wheelchair athletes, and running with dogs is prohibited. In accordance with environmental waste reduction efforts, medals are only awarded to 1k and 3k participants, while the 5k and 10k races do not offer medals or t-shirts.
Included in the entry is access to an after-race buffet at the sports club. Parking is available at Colonsay Field at the park entrance, and car sharing is encouraged. The event is inclusive of male, female, and non-binary categories, though no dedicated non-binary changing facilities are available. A portion of the entry fee from the 5k and 10k races is donated to Blood Cancer UK. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
