Event Overview

The Calderdale Way Ultra is an off-road running event scheduled for 24th April 2027. It features two distance options:

  • 50 miles
  • 30 miles

The course follows the traditional Calderdale Way route from the 1970s, passing through settlements including Heptonstall, Mankinholes, Todmorden, and Brighouse.

Course Details

The 50-mile route starts and finishes in Heptonstall. It covers open moorland, woodland trails, canal sections, and road crossings. There are six aid stations, with one located in Todmorden between two climbs.

The 30-mile route begins at Brookfoot lock in Brighouse and ends in Heptonstall. This route includes a climb out of Todmorden, after which the terrain becomes flat to the finish.

Logistics

Time limits are set at 17 hours for the 50-mile distance and 10 hours for the 30-mile distance. The event is open to participants aged 18 and older. Registration takes place at Heptonstall Social and Bowling Club on Friday evening or Saturday morning. For the 30-mile route, registration is also available at the start on Saturday morning.

Entries open on 26th April 2026 and close on 9th April 2027. Entry fees vary, with options for FRA members and non-members, and reduced fees for under-23s. No entries are accepted on the event day, but a wait list is offered. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
