Event overview
The Calderdale Way Ultra is an off-road event on Saturday 25 April 2026 that follows the Calderdale Way trail around Halifax, Hebden Bridge and Todmorden. Distances offered are:
- 50 mile
- 30 mile
- 100 mile (two loops of the 50)
The route uses trail markers and passes moorland, gritstone hillsides, stone causeway, woodlands, hillside villages and mill towns by the River Calder. The 30-mile route starts at Brookfoot Lock in Brighouse and finishes in Heptonstall; the 50-mile route is a circular route starting and finishing in Heptonstall. The 100-mile entry requires completion of the first 50-mile loop within 11 hours to continue.
Race details and practical information
The 50-mile event includes seven vegan-friendly aid stations; the 30-mile uses four of those stations. The 50-mile event has a 17 hour overall cut-off and two non-negotiable checkpoint cut-offs: reach Withens Clough (checkpoint 5) by 7pm and Great Rock (checkpoint 7) by 11pm. The 30-mile event has a 10 hour overall cut-off and requires arrival at Todmorden Sports Centre (checkpoint 6) by 4:30pm. Mandatory kit must be carried at all times.
Entries are restricted to age 18 or older. Included for entrants: finisher’s medal, post-race food, GPS tracking, baggage storage and a bag drop at checkpoint 5 (50-mile only), fully stocked vegan-friendly checkpoints, and free downloadable race photography.
