Event Overview
Cake by the Lake is a running and walking event featuring multiple distances. The fifth annual edition is scheduled for April 4, 2026. It takes place on the Withlacoochee State Trail, starting at Liberty Park in Inverness, Florida.
Distances and Activities
The event includes three separate activities:
- 5K Run
- 5K Walk and Power Walk
- One Mile Cakewalk
The starts are staggered, with the 5K runners beginning first, followed by the 5K walkers three minutes later, and then the one-mile walkers after another three-minute interval.
Course and Location
All routes travel along the shores of the Tsala Apopka chain of lakes on the Withlacoochee State Trail. The course is described as flat, straight, and well-maintained.
Post-Race and Amenities
Upon finishing, participants receive a finisher's medal with a unique 2026 neck ribbon. The event features music, festivities, and signature cake. Age group awards in the form of unique cake plates are awarded three-deep in five-year increments for the combined 5K races. Free photos are made available online after the event.
Registration Notes
Registration fees vary by event. Youth pricing is available for participants aged 17 and under, who receive different finisher items. The event does not include a race T-shirt with registration, but a specially designed event edition shirt is available for separate purchase online before race day.
