BWL Hometown Power 5K
The BWL Hometown Power 5K is the 16th annual, accurately measured 5K run on paved roads held in Lansing, Michigan on August 8, 2026. The event starts at the BWL REO Town Headquarters on S. Washington Ave and the course runs through city streets in neighborhoods around the REO Town building and along the Lansing River Trail.
All registered participants receive a tech shirt and a finisher medal. Proceeds support Pennies for Power, a program to help families in the Lansing area pay utility bills.
Registration opens May 9, 2026 and closes August 5, 2026. Early pricing is $25 until August 5, then $30. The race is chip timed by the Michigan Running Foundation and results are posted live during the race and afterward.
Packet pick-up is available the day before the race at REO Depot and on race day at REO Town. Street parking is available throughout REO Town and there is parking in the BWL lot near Cinnaire.
Awards are given to the top overall male and female finishers, Masters male and female (over 40), Grandmaster male and female (over 50), and to the top finisher in each age group. Age groups: 10-and-under, 11-12, 13-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-over.
