Buttertart Trot 2026
The Buttertart Trot is an annual community running event in Midland, Ontario, celebrating local culture and the region's butter tarts. Started more than a decade ago by a local family, the event grew from a 5 km with 40 participants to an accredited race drawing about 750 runners.
The course begins and ends at the historic Sainte Marie Among the Hurons site. Distances offered cover road race options and a no-cost Kids Fun Run for young participants. The event emphasizes community involvement and support for local businesses and charities.
Proceeds for 2026 benefit local organizations including Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Simcoe, BGC North Simcoe, and CLH Foundation. Registration was available at tiered rates by date for most distances, while the Kids Fun Run remained free. Some race categories sold out several weeks before the event.
Race-day provisions include water and gel stations along the route. Registration items listed for participants include a race bib, water and gel stations, a finisher's medal, and a swag bag. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
