Event Details
The Buttertart Trot is an annual community event held in Midland, Ontario. It celebrates local charm and the region's famous butter tarts. The event was founded by the Parker family over a decade ago to promote wellness and outdoor activity.
The race started with just 40 participants for a 5 km. It has since grown into an accredited race attracting over 750 runners. The event starts and finishes at the historic Sainte Marie Among the Hurons site. Registration is currently full (Sold out).

The available race distances are:
- 5 km
- 10 km
- Half Marathon (for both runners and walkers)
- 1 km Kids Fun Run
Inclusions and Impact
A paid registration includes a race bib, water and gel stations, a finisher's medal, and a swag bag. The Kids Fun Run is a special, no-cost event.
Race proceeds support local organizations, with the 2026 beneficiaries including Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Simcoe, BGC North Simcoe, and the CLH Foundation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
