About the race
The BUTS Bearly Ultra is a trail running event in Birmingham, AL held on November 21, 2026. It is organized by BUTS and offers two distance options that use the Red Mountain Park trail system.

- 13.5 Miler
The course is built around a 13.5-mile loop that zig-zags through Red Mountain trails and includes roughly 1500 feet of elevation gain; the 27-mile option is two loops of that course. Terrain includes runnable old rail beds, twisty root-filled single track, sections referred to as Ike and BMRR trails, and scenic points such as Grace's Gap Overlook. The route passes areas with old mine shafts and features informal seating (chairs and swings) along the way.
Aid stations are available on the course. At the finish runners are offered hot food, cold drinks, and a finisher medal.
Race logistics note that bib pickup occurs the morning of the race at Red Mountain Park and that timing will use HuTags; taller socks are recommended to wear the ankle tags. A portion of entry fees is donated back to Red Mountain Park, which is part of the Jefferson County Greenways partnership. BUTS members receive a $5 entry discount.
