BUTS Bearly Ultra : Birmingham, AL (November 21, 2026)
The BUTS Bearly Ultra is a trail running event held at Red Mountain Park in Birmingham, Alabama. The event offers two distances:
- 27 Miler
- 13.5 Miler
The course uses a 13.5-mile loop that features approximately 1500 feet of elevation; the 27-mile option is two laps of the same loop. Terrain includes old rail beds, twisty root-filled single track, steeper sections, and sections on the BMRR trails. The route passes Grace's Gap Overlook and areas with historic mine shafts, and it also includes distinctive roadside chairs and swings.
Aid stations are located along the loop and are passed multiple times. Finish-line provisions include hot food, cold drinks, and a unique finisher medal. Timing uses HuTags worn on the ankle, so taller socks are recommended. Bib pickup is available only on race morning at Red Mountain Park.
The event supports local trail systems; a portion of each entry fee is donated back to Red Mountain Park. Membership in BUTS offers a small discount for members. Registration closes on Thu, Nov 19. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
