Bushwacker 5K
The Bushwacker 5K is a beachside running event on Pensacola Beach with a separate 5K run and a 5K walk. The course begins in Gulf Breeze at the National Seashore and finishes in the parking lot of the Pensacola Beach Boardwalk in front of Bamboo Willie’s. A .9 mile warmup walk or run follows the bike path from Live Oak Village Shopping Center at 1143 Gulf Breeze Pkwy to the official start area.
Packet pickup is scheduled the day before at Running Wild Pensacola, 3012 E Cervantes St, and there is a race day packet pickup at the Pensacola Beach Boardwalk finish. Shuttle buses operate between the Boardwalk and the start area before the event and return to the shopping center after the finish. The post race party at Bamboo Willie’s offers free popsicles, cold towels, a Bushwacker served in a souvenir cup, live music, and access to the Sound.
Awards are given to overall top male and female runners, overall masters and grandmasters, top three in each age group for male and female runners, and the top three male and female walkers. Organizers have used the event to raise funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters and other charities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
