Burro Buster 5k
The Burro Buster 5k takes place in Fairplay, Colorado, on the 4th of July. Located at an elevation of 9,953 feet above sea level, the race occurs in one of the highest incorporated towns in the United States. The course stays within the town limits, starting and finishing in front of the historic Hand Hotel and Emporium.
Participating runners encounter various terrain types throughout the 5k route. The ground surfaces include asphalt, dirt, and rocks. Technical features of the course include several sets of stairs and sections with hills. Along the way, the path passes by a river and several historic buildings, providing views of the surrounding area.
There are no water stations provided along the course itself. Participants can access water at the start and finish lines. Proceeds from the registration fees for this event benefit the Town of Fairplay Scholarship Fund.
