The Burns Park Run takes place on Sunday, May 3, 2026, in Ann Arbor at the Burns Park Warming Hut. The course is a tree-lined loop through a neighborhood near the University of Michigan campus. Distances offered include:
- 5K Run
- 5K Walk
- 10K Run
- 1/2 Mile Fun Run
- Virtual 5K

Purpose, participants and awards
The event is a volunteer-organized fundraiser that supports Burns Park Elementary PTO programs. It began in 1979 as a fundraiser for sixth grade campers and in 2026 marks its 48th anniversary. The race is run by volunteer race directors with about 100 volunteers involved in planning and staffing. The 5K and 10K races typically draw between 1,000 and 1,500 participants, with ages reported from 5 to 90 and over 200 elementary school children running the 5K. All finishers in the timed events (5K run and walk, and 10K) receive a finisher medal. Additional awards are presented after the Fun Run and include overall, masters, grand masters, adult age-group, and youth age-division placements, with recognition by male, female and non-binary categories.
