Event details

The Burns Park Run takes place on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at the Burns Park Warming Hut in Ann Arbor near the University of Michigan campus. The course is a tree-lined loop through a neighborhood. The event is a volunteer-run fundraiser that supports Burns Park Elementary PTO programs and marks its 48th anniversary. The event typically draws between 1,000 and 1,500 participants aged about 5 to 90 years, with more than 200 elementary school children running the 5K. Approximately 100 volunteers help with planning and race-day operations.

Race features and awards

All finishers in the timed events (5K Run, 5K Walk, 10K) receive a finisher medal. Awards are presented for top overall, masters, and grand masters, and for adult age-group winners in the 5K and 10K. Youth divisions (5 and under through 17 years) receive 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards. Race shirts are optional and available for purchase. Packet pickup schedule is to be determined.
