Event Overview
Burn Your Half Off is a non-competitive running and walking event held along the Tennessee River in Chattanooga. The event emphasizes camaraderie and personal goals over competition, with a primary focus on participant experience. Participants can choose between three different distances:
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- 5K
The course is designed with a central start, finish, and aid station area that participants return to multiple times during their race. This layout allows runners to leave drop bags for personal items, shed clothing layers, or reapply sunscreen. A four-hour time limit is in place for all distances to ensure the event concludes according to local facility requirements.
Facilities and Support
The event provides access to restrooms with flushing toilets and running water. A comprehensive aid station is available to all participants, featuring water, Gatorade, banana smoothies, ice, and various snacks. Each participant who completes their distance receives a finisher medal. While traditional competitive awards are not featured, a specific medal is designated for the final person to complete the course.
Registration Details
Registration includes entry to the race, a finisher medal, and a themed towel for those who register before the production deadline. Due to limited parking and venue space, the event has a participation cap and uses a tiered pricing structure that increases as spots are filled. The event takes place regardless of rain or shine, though delays may occur in the event of lightning or unsafe conditions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
