Burn Your Half Off
Burn Your Half Off is a community focused running and walking event held in Chattanooga along the Tennessee River near 4301 Amnicola Highway. The event offers multiple out-and-back laps that return to a central start, finish and super aid station area.
Available distances:
- 5K
- 10K
- Half marathon (13.1 miles)
The event emphasizes camaraderie over competition. Everyone receives a finisher medal and there is a special Sloth Society medal awarded to the person who finishes last, provided the result is earned honestly. There is a four hour time limit for all distances; staff will stay to record finish times and present medals in some cases but pavilion checkout constraints apply.
Amenities and logistics mentioned by the organizer include flushing toilets with sinks, running water and soap, multiple visits to the start/finish aid station so participants can access drop bags and change layers, and aid station supplies such as Gatorade, water, Gu, banana smoothies, unlimited ice, snacks and post race food. Race swag includes a beach or pool towel and other items, though swag ordered after May 27 may not include the towel.
Registration details note opening and closing dates, specific fees by distance, a participation cap, and that prices may increase as the race fills. Registration fees and add ons are final and non refundable or transferable. The races proceed in rain or snow or shine unless unsafe conditions such as lightning force a delay or cancellation.
