Buried Barrel Hard Cider TRAIL 5K - All American!
The Buried Barrel Hard Cider Trail 5K takes place on October 4, 2026, at Buried Barrel in Castile, New York. The event offers both an in-person trail race and a virtual option covering 3.1 Miles. The in-person course is point-to-point, beginning at the Buried Barrel taproom and ending in the Pankow Farms apple orchard. At the finish line participants receive complimentary water, optional hard cider, and a commemorative medal.
Race services include wagon and shuttle rides back to the cidery roughly every 30 minutes as runners finish, on-site parking at Buried Barrel with attendants, course photographers, and a food vendor selling chicken barbecue at the cidery. The event opens the course to all ages and to participants using strollers, and prohibits dogs on the trail. Awards are presented to top overall finishers, top finishers by age group, and to the last finisher who will be named "Person Irrelevant." Age groups are 19 and under, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, and 60 plus.
Every registered finisher receives a commemorative swag bag that includes a 2026 event t-shirt, a custom logo bandanna, a handheld American flag, sponsor items, and a ticket for one chicken barbecue meal. Proceeds and raffle funds benefit local organizations serving animals, emergency services, suicide prevention, and veterans. Organizers seek volunteers and sponsors. There are no refunds; organizers may postpone, reschedule, or offer a fully virtual alternative for safety reasons. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
