Burghley7
Burghley7 is a 7 mile road race held at Burghley House and around the town of Stamford. The course uses closed roads and passes through the Burghley estate, St Martins High Street, nearby villages and surrounding countryside, including landmarks such as Burghley House, Burghley Deer Park, the Walled Gardens, Lions Bridge and the River Welland. Parts of the route use tarmac roads and the finish includes a short grass section; some damp sections cannot be ruled out.
Entry requires advance registration; there are no on the day entries. Runners must be at least 16 years old on race day. Race numbers and timing chips are posted to competitors before the event. The event provides chip timing, full road closures, advanced medical support, free parking on the estate, bag drop at the start, toilets and mobile catering. Each finisher receives a medal and free event photos are provided.
Event procedures include a race briefing at the start line and a prize giving at the finish. Basic rules note that in ear and over ear headphones are not allowed while bone conducting headphones are permitted, and running with a buggy or a dog on a lead is not allowed. Parking may move to Stamford if estate parkland is too wet. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
