About the Event
The Street Striders Shapwick Bunny Hop is a multi-terrain running race taking place on Easter Monday. The event supports the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance and Shapwick community facilities.
The Race
The main event is a 7.5 mile loop. The course uses lanes, footpaths, and Shapwick Heath. Runners can expect mud, uneven ground, stiles, and fences. There is one marshalled road crossing. Off-road trainers are recommended. The route will have mile markers, marshals, and red flags for navigation. The race has a limit of 150 participants. Entry is online only and closes when full or on the Friday before the race. The minimum age to enter is 17.
Facilities & Information
Race headquarters and registration are at Shapwick Village Hall. Parking is available nearby. Baggage can be left at an unattended area in the hall. Water and first aid support are provided at the headquarters and around the 4.75 mile point. Toilets are available at the hall and the cricket club. Refreshments will be available after the race. Results are published online after the event. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers, various veteran categories, the first Shapwick resident, and the first Street Strider club member.
Family Fun Walk
A 4-mile family walk starts before the main race. The route partly overlaps the running course and can be muddy. The walk is free, with donations to charity welcome. A walk leader will be present, and the route is marked with arrows and flags. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
