Bucks for Bucs 5K Race and Fun Walk
The Bucks for Bucs 5K Race and Fun Walk is a community athletic event held in Houston, Pennsylvania. The event supports the Bucks for Bucs Educational Foundation, which provides scholarships and teacher grants for the Chartiers-Houston School District. The race central hub is located at the Chartiers-Houston High School stadium.
The event offers several distance options:
- 5 km (Run)
- 1 mile (Fun Walk)
- 1 mile (Kid's Run for 6th grade and younger)
The 5 km course traverses a residential neighborhood characterized by rolling hills. Participants start on the hill next to the stadium press box, follow a route through local streets including McGovern Road and Adlin Avenue, and return to the stadium. The final segment of the race consists of 300 meters on the stadium track. A water station is available on Adlin Avenue.
The 1 mile Fun Walk follows a shorter loop through the vicinity of the elementary school and the stadium driveway. The Kid's Mile is held entirely on the stadium track.
Participants who register by the mid-March deadline receive a cotton shirt and a goodie bag. The event provides pre- and post-race food and beverages for competitors. Awards are presented to the top three men and women overall in the 5 km, as well as to winners in age categories ranging from 8 and under to 60 and over. Facilities include parking near the field house and access to the gymnasium for warming up. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
