The Buckingham Half Marathon
The Buckingham Half Marathon is a single lap, 13.1 mile loop through Buckinghamshire countryside on quiet country lanes and tarmac paths. The route runs in an anti clockwise direction and passes through Leckhampstead, Wicken and Akeley. The start and finish are at Maids Moreton Playing Fields, with Race HQ at Buckingham Rugby Club nearby.
The event is run under UK Athletics rules and holds race licence number 2025 - 29011. Chip timing is provided and results are available on finish. Water stations with bottled water are positioned at about 3.1, 5, 7, 10 and 11.5 miles. The course is marshaled and clearly signed, including mile markers. First aid cover is provided at the start, finish and around the course.
Facilities include toilets, changing rooms, one toilet on the course, supervised baggage storage at the start and parking at the rugby club. All finishers receive a bespoke Buckingham Half Marathon medal and free tea, coffee and cake. A photographer records the course and photos are made available free of charge. Prizes include trophies for overall and age category finishers. All profits from the event are donated to Young Carers Bucks.
