Buckin' Hell - Mount Seymour Resort
Buckin' Hell is a mountain trail event that starts and finishes at Enquist Lodge, Mt Seymour Resort in North Vancouver, British Columbia. Courses climb and descend through the North Shore Mountains, beginning with an ascent from the resort, a lower summit tag, a long descent to the Seymour River, and a final climb back to the finish. Routes pass through remnants of old growth forest, bike trails and technical terrain underfoot.
Distances
- 35 km course with 2000 m ascent and 2000 m descent
- 50 km course with 2600 m ascent and 2600 m descent
- 50 km relay two person legs of about 25 km each
Featured local trails include Baden Powell, Mystery Lake, Severed, Brockton Lookout and Old Buck. Aid stations and drop bag locations are shown on the course map; aid stations offer items such as Näak gel, waffles, energy drink, Coke, water, chips, fruit, cookies, M&Ms, watermelon and pickles. The event is cup free so runners must carry their own cup for fluids at aid stations and at the finish.
Mandatory gear is listed as none and poles are allowed from the start. Drop bags must be labelled, kept to a reasonable size and oversized bags are denied. Crews are not allowed at the Old Buck aid station; crew access at other stations is restricted and crews may not access aid station supplies or enter non access points. All finishers receive a finisher medal that also functions as a bottle opener. A kids race of about 1 km is untimed, non competitive and free; it includes special bibs, finisher stickers and random draw prizes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
