GPS Cross Country 5K
The Baltimore Road Runners Club presents the GPS Cross Country 5K at Herring Run Park on November 15, 2026. Entry is free; donations are accepted for a scholarship fund for college freshmen or for the Friends of Herring Run Parks. The event is listed as part of the club's Grand Prix Series.
The course is a 5K cross country loop with a mix of paved, field and technical single-track surfaces. The route crosses the river twice and runs through wooded sections. The race begins with an XC style start that uses open-field running to thin the pack. The course deviates from local high school layouts and includes technical sections where trail shoes may be beneficial, though road shoes are permitted.
The race start is located along Belair Road on the Chesterfield side near the muraled shed (39.326448, -76.568350). Participants and spectators can park on Belair or Chesterfield Road and walk toward the Herring Run Bridge on the Chesterfield side, upstream of the bridge.
This event is the final GPS race of the year. Volunteers are requested because the course contains many turns in a compact area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
