Brown County Hilly Half
The Brown County YMCA Hilly Half Marathon is a fundraising running event that aims to highlight Brown County, promote health and well being, and build community. The event offers three race distances:
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- 5K
The half marathon route starts and finishes at the Saddle Barn / Lower Shelter House and winds through Brown County State Park. After an initial climb of about two miles, much of the course follows a ridge top with scenic vistas and passes the park fire tower. The route concludes with a fast two mile downhill section into the finish area.
A post race party follows with music, hot soup, breadsticks, beer, fires and time for fellowship. Soup for the post race party is provided by Abe Martin Lodge and Rafters. The event lists Quaff ON! Brewing Co. among post race partners.
Packet pick up is available in advance at the Brown County YMCA and on race day at the Brown County State Park Lower Shelter House. The event is operated as a fundraiser and organizers state there are no refunds or deferrals. For insurance reasons dogs are not allowed on the course.
The event is presented by the Brown County YMCA with a range of local sponsors and volunteer opportunities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
