Brooklyn Pride LGBTQIA+ 5K Run/Walk
The Brooklyn Pride LGBTQIA+ 5K is a morning run and walk held in the historic Prospect Park. This event serves as a kickoff for Brooklyn Pride Saturday and is part of a week of festivities celebrating visibility and inclusion for the LGBTQIA+ community. The race is produced by Brooklyn Pride, Inc. in partnership with Front Runners New York and is open to participants of various backgrounds and abilities.
The event features a single distance:
- 5 km (3.1 miles)
The course takes participants through a scenic loop of Prospect Park. Runners and walkers can register under the gender category they identify with, including Female, Male, or Non-Binary options. For those participating with families, strollers are permitted but must start at the back of the pack for safety. Due to liability reasons, dogs are not permitted on the course.
Participants receive a specially designed t-shirt and a custom engraved finisher's medal. Amenities at the event site include a bag drop area, portable restrooms, and post-race refreshments such as water and snacks. Awards are recognized for the top three overall finishers and top finishers in several age groups across all gender categories. The start area is located near the Bartel-Pritchard Lot, which is accessible via the F and G subway lines at the 15 Street - Prospect Park station.
