Brittany's Project Color Run
The Brittany's Project Color Run is a community running and walking event held in downtown Patterson, Louisiana. The course takes participants through the downtown area and includes 2 miles of activity. Participants are encouraged to wear event-specific clothing or their own white attire, as the route features 2 huge color stops where colored powder is applied to those passing through.
The event serves as a fundraiser for Brittany's Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Proceeds from the race contribute directly to the maintenance of the organization's facility and its monthly activities. The facility, established in 2017 on the former Oaklawn Sugar Mill Site, provides a space for recreation, social events, and educational workshops for the special needs community.
Participants can collect their race packages on the day prior to the event at Morey Park. Following the run and walk, the event hosts additional community activities on-site, including a bake sale and a jambalaya plate lunch available for purchase. The mission of the organizing body is to enrich lives through services such as summer camps, seminars, and social gatherings like a dedicated Prom for individuals with disabilities.
