Event

The BRIGHT Run is a non-competitive walk or run event held at the Christie Lake Conservation Area. It takes place annually on the first Saturday after Labour Day.

Purpose and Scope

It is a family-friendly event with a primary goal of raising funds for local breast cancer research in Hamilton. The event is entirely volunteer-powered.

Participant-raised funds go entirely and directly to funding breast cancer research projects. So far, 24 research projects, each valued between $50,000 and $100,000, have been funded. The 2026 edition will be the 19th annual event.

In 2025, the event saw approximately 1,700 participants and 200 volunteers. The fundraising goal for the 2026 event is $500,026. Organizing expenses are covered by community partners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
