Event Overview

The Bright Ideas 5K is a community run on Saturday, April 18, 2026, in historic downtown Conway, South Carolina. It features two distances: a 5k and a 1 Mile event. The event benefits innovative classroom projects through Horry Electric Cooperative’s Bright Ideas Grant Program, which funds educational initiatives for grades K–12 throughout Horry County.

Event Details

The 5k course is described as flat and scenic, taking runners through downtown Conway. Police and course support will be present. Parking is available throughout downtown Conway.

All registered participants receive a Bright Ideas 1/4 Zip Shirt and a finisher medal. Awards are given for the 5k event, including overall awards for male and female runners (1st, 2nd, 3rd) and age group awards.

Registration & Logistics

Packet pick-up is available on Friday, April 17th, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Black Dog Outfitters (316 N Main St, Conway). Race day packet pick-up is on Saturday near the Terrace from 6:30 AM to 7:45 AM. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
