Bright Futures Fun Run
The Bright Futures Fun Run is a community running event on October 11, 2026, held at the Miracle League of the Triangle's Durham field in Durham, North Carolina. The event is organized by Durham Public Schools Southwest region and is presented as a block-party-style gathering that begins and ends at the Durham field.
Two course options are offered for participants:
- 5K (Bright Futures 5K)
- 1 Mile (Bright Futures 1 Mile Run and Walk)
Registration details differ by distance: registration opens 31 May 2026 for the 5K and 1 June 2026 for the 1 mile, and registration closes 12 June 2026. The registration fee is $20.00 for the listed events. A portion of all registrant proceeds will be returned to the school each runner represents; remaining registration funds will go to the organizing school, Morehead Montessori, to cover event costs. Participating schools in the Southwest region include Jordan High School, Lakewood Montessori Middle School, Sherwood Githens Middle School, Lakewood Elementary School, Forest View Elementary School, Hope Valley Elementary School, Murray-Massenburg Elementary School, Morehead Montessori Elementary School, CC Spaulding Elementary School, Creekside Elementary School, and Southwest Elementary.
