The Bridger Ridge Run
The Bridger Ridge Run is a point-to-point trail race covering approximately 19.9 miles along the crest of the Bridger Mountains near Bozeman, Montana. The route is highly technical and remote, with almost the entire course featuring unstable footing, steep ascents, and significant descents. The event begins at the Fairy Lake Trailhead at an elevation of 7,600 feet and concludes at the Fish Hatchery at 4,900 feet.
The course follows a ridge line that reaches several high points, including Sacagawea Peak at 9,650 feet and Saddle Peak at 9,150 feet. Participants encounter a variety of terrain, including forested paths, granite basins, loose scree shoots, and sections requiring scrambling over limestone blocks. Due to the exposed nature of the ridge, runners may face unpredictable weather and lightning hazards.
Available distances:
- 19.9 Miles
The race is limited to 250 participants as per wilderness permits. Entry is managed through a lottery application process. The event is cupless, meaning athletes must carry their own water vessels to be filled at aid stations. These stations are stocked by volunteers who haul all supplies to the remote locations by hand. Strict cut-off times are enforced at various checkpoints along the route, and participants are grouped into start waves based on their estimated finish times. The finish area provides medical support, a barbecue, and a shuttle service to local parking lots. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
