Event Overview
The Bridesburg Memorial Day 5K and 1 Mile Honor Walk is a community athletic event held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Organized by the United Veterans of Bridesburg, the event serves as a fundraiser to support the local Memorial Day Parade. This parade is recognized as one of the longest established Memorial Day processions in the state of Pennsylvania, with a history rooted in honoring service members who did not return from war.
Participants can choose between two primary distances:
- 5 km Memorial Run
- 1 mile Honor Walk
The event is staged at the Bridesburg Recreation Center, located at 4601 Richmond Street. Both the run and the walk are designed to start and finish near the front of the recreation center grounds. The United Veterans of Bridesburg, founded in the late 1970s by local residents and regional veterans' organizations, continue to manage the event to ensure the continuity of local commemorative activities.
Post-race refreshments are provided at the venue. These amenities are supported by local entities including Weavers Way Co-Op, Dietz and Watson, Yards Brewing Company, and the United Veterans of Bridesburg. Registration for participants is available on the morning of the event at the recreation center site. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
