Brian Waterbury Memorial Rock to Pier Run
The Brian Waterbury Memorial Rock to Pier Run is a coastal beach running event held in Morro Bay, California. The physical races take place along the shoreline, providing participants with a course set against the Central Coast landscape. Because much of the route is on the sand, participants can expect wet shoes during the run.
Participants can choose from the following event distances:
- 10k Run (6.2 Miles): A point to point beach run from Morro Rock to Cayucos Pier.
- 1/2 Marathon (13.1 Miles): An out and back course starting at Morro Rock, reaching Cayucos Pier, and returning south with a detour through Cloisters Park.
- Virtual Rock to Pier (6 Miles): A flexible option to be completed at any location between July 1 and July 31.
For the point to point 6.2 mile event, bus transportation is provided from the finish line at Cayucos Pier back to the starting area at Morro Rock. Amenities for physical participants include water and aid stations located throughout the course, as well as a post-race breakfast and awards ceremony at Morro Rock.
Due to the Snowy Plover nesting season, dogs are not permitted on the course. While parking is limited at Cayucos Pier, there is more space available at the Morro Rock starting area. Registration includes options for different distances and a virtual participation category. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
