Charity and accessibility
All proceeds benefit CHAMP Assistance Dogs, a St. Louis-based organization. In 2025 CHAMP placed five assistance dogs, with each placement costing the organization up to $40,000; placements are provided free of charge. Virtual participants may complete their entry in a variety of ways; past examples include rolling, running, walking, jogging, dancing, ice skating, and swimming. Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome at the in-person event. The race is held in memory of a volunteer who supported CHAMP Assistance Dogs.
