Breezy in Brighouse & Special Solstice Run
This event is held at Brookfoot Footbridge in Brighouse and runs along the Calder & Hebble navigation canal. The course uses the canal towpath, is generally flat and not overly challenging, and follows an out-and-back format.
Distances available:
- 5 km (including two separate Summer Solstice 5k runs)
- 10 km
- Half marathon - two laps of the course
- Marathon - four laps of the course
There are water and feed stations on the route, typically placed at intervals of around three miles. Organisers operate a cup-less approach and ask participants to bring a reusable cup or bottle. Marshals are positioned along the course to offer direction and encouragement. All finishers receive a bespoke Solstice medal and post-race refreshments including cake and other items. Bibs are issued on the day at registration.
The races are licensed by the Trail Running Association. A 6.5 hour cut-off applies to events. Transfers or deferrals can be self-served via the organiser’s website up to one week before the event. Car sharing is suggested as a practical travel option. The event also aims to provide a social space for participants to stay and chat after racing.
