Event Overview
The Breezy in Brighouse & Special Solstice Run takes place in Brighouse, Calderdale, West Yorkshire. The event uses the scenic towpath of the Calder & Hebble Navigation canal, described as very pretty with lots of greenery. It is organised by It's Grim Up North Running and is licenced by the Trail Running Association.
Course and Distances
The course runs on a canal towpath and is described as not overly challenging. The route is an out-and-back format. There are four primary distances offered:
- 5 km
- 10 km
- Half Marathon
- Marathon
Two special Summer Solstice 5 km runs are also held to mark the longest day of the year. The event has a 6.5-hour overall cut-off time.
Event Information
Registration opens early in the morning. Bibs are collected on the day of registration. On-course feed and water stations are provided approximately every three miles. The event aims to be cup-less, so participants are asked to bring their own reusable cup or bottle. Marshals will be present on the course.
There are specific rules regarding headphones: large over-ear headphones are banned for safety reasons, but bone-conducting earphones or "one in, one out" in-ear pieces are permitted. Participants should be aware of unmarshalled road crossings.
All finishers receive a bespoke Solstice medal, cake, and other goodies. The organisers encourage a social atmosphere.
Practical Details
Parking is available in a pub field for a charge of £5, with car sharing recommended. Transfers or deferrals can be managed online by participants up to 48 hours before the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
