Break Free 5/10k Run & Walk : Cardiff Park
The event is presented by The Jessica Martel Memorial Foundation and takes place on June 13, 2026 at Cardiff Park in Sturgeon County, Alberta, Canada. Two participation options are available:
- 5 km run or walk
- 10 km run (two laps of the same route)
Funds raised support community members affected by domestic violence and help maintain services at Jessie's House and Eileen's Place. Jessie's House is a 35 bed all-gender emergency shelter that also houses a 24 hour crisis line and a Child Care Program. Funds are intended to cover essential program needs when government funding is insufficient.
The day features a race village with family-friendly activities, a colour blast station located in the village, a group warm up, musical entertainment, award presentations and a post-race atmosphere. The race kit includes admission, a white race shirt, a race bib, participant ribbons and winning medals. Race kits are provided at on-site check-in on race day only.
All racers start and finish at the same line; 5 km participants complete the route once and 10 km participants complete it twice. The event is dog friendly with the expectation that dogs remain on leash, are socialized, and that owners bring water and clean up after their pets. Parking is free in designated park areas on a first come first served basis. The event is rain or shine and registrations are non-refundable.
