Beat the Base Triathlon : Race information
Beat the Base Triathlon is an early-season multi-discipline event held on Canadian Forces Base Edmonton on 5 June 2027. The event uses base facilities including the 25-yard pool, secure garrison roads, a retired runway for the bike leg, and the northern trail system for the run. Proceeds are donated to Soldier On, a non-profit that supports serving and retired Canadian Armed Forces members and veterans through sport; the community previously raised $15,000 and aims to match that total in 2027.
Athletes may choose among four event formats:
- Sprint: 800 yd swim, 20.5 km bike, 4.9 km run
- Super-Sprint (Try-a-Tri): 400 yd swim, 11.2 km bike, 2.5 km run
- Team Relay: Sprint distance split among 2 or 3 members
- Inaugural 5K Run: standalone flat, fast course
The swim takes place in the base pool with transition in the tennis courts. The bike course begins on the retired runway and passes base units before continuing on garrison roads. The run follows the trail system north of the pool. The event features a sponsor expo before and after racing, participant kit items including a race-branded long-sleeve shirt and silicone swim cap, an official finisher memento, a light post-race meal and a complimentary beverage, and family-friendly waves open to ages 8 and up. Volunteers receive food, a t-shirt, and beer during the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
