Event Overview
The 8th annual Brat Trot is held in Terre Haute's historical brewing district. The event offers three options: a standard Brat Trot 5k, a Beer Challenge 5K, and a 1-Mile Fun Run.
Race Details
The main event is the Beer Challenge 5K, which has an age requirement of 21 or older. Participants run a one-mile loop course through the brewing district. For each of the three laps, a runner must consume a four-ounce shot glass of beer, provided by Afterburner Brewing Company, and have a volunteer mark their bib before proceeding. Consuming all three beers is required to be eligible for awards. Strollers are not permitted in the Beer Challenge.
A standard, non-beer Brat Trot 5k is also available, which is open to all ages and follows the same three-lap course. Strollers are allowed in this version.
Participant Perks
All registered participants receive a race t-shirt, a custom race bib, a free brat, and post-race refreshments. Participants aged 21 and over also receive one free post-race beer (photo ID required). Awards for the 5k events include beer steins for the top three overall male and female finishers, and bottle openers for the top three in each age group.
Logistics
Parking for the event is at the Vigo County Library parking lot at 1 Library Square, Terre Haute. Participants are asked to park at the back of the lot. The standard registration fee for all events is $25, with a $5 increase for race-day registrations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
