The Brainerd Turkey Run is an annual Thanksgiving morning event that raises funds for Shriners Healthcare for Children Twin Cities. The event offers a timed 5k run and an untimed 1 mile walk and supports fundraising through individual pages for participants, with recognition for top fundraisers.

Packet pickup and registration are handled at the Brainerd Armory on the Wednesday and Thursday before the race. A virtual race option is available; virtual participants receive race items by mail after the event unless they choose pickup. Registration pricing is structured with youth and adult tiers and a virtual race fee for the 5k.

Course information:

• 5k run (timed) starts and finishes at the Brainerd Armory, described as industrial scenic and stroller friendly, with a lead biker.
• 1 mile walk is a signed loop on nearby streets, stroller friendly, not timed.

Practical details include allowance of friendly dogs on leash with owners starting at the back and cleaning up after them, and that children 5 and under are free but do not receive a shirt. After finishing, participants can take photos at a finisher backdrop and find snacks such as cookies, water, and bananas. Results and photos are posted online after the race.
