Brading 10km
The Brading 10km serves as the opening event for the Isle of Wight Festival of Running. The race is operated under UKA Rules and holds an SEAA Course Accuracy Certificate. The event has an entry limit of 175 participants and is open to runners aged 15 years and older.
The course begins on the Smallbrook speedway track before transitioning onto local roads including Ashey Road, Green Lane, and Beaper Shute. Participants return via Brading Road and Smallbrook Lane to finish back inside the stadium. The route features marker boards at every kilometer and a water station located at approximately the 5 km mark. This course is not suitable for wheelchairs, and a finish time limit of 1 hour and 35 minutes is enforced.
Race headquarters are located at Smallbrook Stadium in Ryde. The venue provides changing and shower facilities, a bar with refreshments, and a limited number of free parking spaces. For those traveling from the mainland, the stadium is situated 3 km from Ryde Esplanade, which is accessible via catamaran services from Portsmouth.
Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as winners in various age categories ranging from under 20 to over 80. All finishers receive a souvenir. For safety reasons, runners may not participate with dogs, and the use of in-ear or over-ear headphones is prohibited, though bone-conducting headphones are permitted.
