Bovingdon 10K and Fun Run
The Bovingdon event is a village community road race held from Bovingdon Football Club and organised by Gade Valley Harriers. The main race is a certified, officially measured chip timed 10 km on quiet country lanes through the Hertfordshire countryside; road shoes are recommended. The course is measured to official standards and results can feed into national statistics. Chip timing is provided by Event Chip Timing and a GPX file of the route is available.
There is also a short Fun Run of about one mile that follows a route around the football pitches. Fun Run entry is available on the day at the club and carries a small fee. The 10K has a maximum field of 300 runners. Participants must be at least 18 years old to enter the 10K; juniors may take part in the Fun Run. Entry fees for the 10K include a chipped race number and a finish medal; fees are non refundable though entries can be transferred. Prizes are awarded to the top three overall men and women and to age category winners. Facilities on site include portaloos, a bag drop area, two water stations on course, parking at the club, and use of the clubhouse bar and BBQ after the race. The event is EA licensed and raises any surplus funds for the club chosen charity Macmillan Cancer Support. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
