Bournemouth Bay Run
The Bournemouth Bay Run takes place along the coastline of Bournemouth, featuring views of the area's 7-mile stretch of sand. The event offers multiple distances for participants of various ages and interests, with routes passing landmark locations such as the Pier Approach and West of Bournemouth Pier.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- Half Marathon (minimum age 17)
- 10 km (minimum age 15)
- 5 km (minimum age 11)
- 1 km Kids Fun Run (no minimum age)
The Half Marathon, 10 km, and 5 km races are chip-timed. Specifically, the Half Marathon is recognized as one of the Dorset Road Race League fixtures. Wheelchair entries are accommodated for the Half Marathon and 10 km events.
The event organizers implement several environmental initiatives to reduce the use of single-use plastics. Hydration stations provide boxed water and paper cups, while canned water is provided at the finish. Used cups are collected in drop nets for recycling. Additionally, the event has transitioned to an online goody bag system and reduced plastic packaging for medals and t-shirts. A luggage marquee is available for those who choose to use public transport, carshare, walk, or cycle to the venue. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
