Boston Marathon
The Boston Marathon is organized by the Boston Athletic Association. The 130th running took place in April 2026 on Patriots' Day and brought athletes from around the world to race under the B.A.A. event weekend.
The event attracts about 30,000 participants and is supported by more than 10,000 volunteers. The Boston Marathon program also includes information and competition opportunities for para and adaptive athletes with defined eligibility, divisions, and classifications. A professional field competes at the front of the race.
The Boston Marathon weekend features multiple B.A.A. races and events, including a 5K, a 10K, and a half marathon among other activities. The race has longstanding partners and sponsors, including Bank of America, adidas, and Schneider, and the Bank of America Official Charity Program has raised $50.4 million through its fundraising efforts.
The Boston Athletic Association maintains event resources such as participant and spectator guides, media materials, and volunteer assignments. The organization lists office addresses in Boston and Hopkinton and provides race results and historical records from previous runnings.
