Boston Marathon
The Boston Marathon is presented by Bank of America and marked its 130th running in 2026. The race brings together about 30,000 athletes from around the world and is held on Patriots' Day. The course runs from Hopkinton to Boston and is part of a multi-day race weekend.
The event includes professional fields as well as para and adaptive divisions with published eligibility, divisions, and classifications. It is supported by a large volunteer operation of more than 10,000 people and by a network of partners and sponsors. The Boston Athletic Association provides participant and spectator guides and maintains resources for media and volunteers.
Over its history the event has raised funds through an official charity program; recent totals include $50.4 million raised through the Bank of America Official Charity Program. Official race materials and results are published by the organizer, and the B.A.A. also lists related races and community programs that take place around marathon weekend.
