Boston AAPI 5K
The AAPI 5K is a road race held at Carson Beach Picnic Area in South Boston, Massachusetts to celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. The event aims to create a safe and welcoming space for AAPI runners and walkers, raise funds and awareness for AAPI nonprofit organizations, and support AAPI small businesses. The event proceeds rain or shine. Entry options include a 5K Run Pass and a 5K Walk Pass.
The event uses separate run and walk waves with pace guidelines: the run wave requires a 10:59 minute mile pace or faster (finish a 5K in 34 minutes or faster), while the walk wave is for 11 minute mile pace and above. There are team competitions where the fastest teams will win Cha Siu Baos for two women and two men. A costume challenge runs alongside the race, with bonus points for Anime characters. There is no race day bib pickup; bibs are available for pickup on the listed Thursday and Friday times and may be collected by friends or family. Parking is available at the UMass Bay Side Parking Lot near the start and finish and close to the water; the Passport Parking app and zone 21251 are used for payment.
