Boston AAPI 5K
The AAPI 5K is a road race held at Carson Beach Picnic Area in South Boston, MA to mark Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. The event aims to create a safe and welcoming space for AAPI runners and walkers, raise funds and awareness for AAPI nonprofit organizations, and support AAPI small businesses.
The event runs as a single 5K distance with separate Run Wave and Walk Wave categories. The Run Wave targets participants able to hold a 10:59 minute mile pace or faster and to finish a 5K in 34 minutes or faster. The Walk Wave is intended for participants at roughly an 11 minute mile pace and above.
There are team prizes and a costume challenge. The fastest teams will win Cha Siu Baos for a team of two women and two men. The costume challenge awards bonus points for Anime characters.
Logistics noted by the organizer include that the event will go on rain or shine and that there is no race day bib pickup. Bib pickup is scheduled on the two days before the event during afternoon and early evening hours, and friends or family may pick up bibs for participants.
