Borrowdale Trail Half Marathon
The Borrowdale Trail Half Marathon takes place on 23rd August 2026 in the Borrowdale Valley and finishes at Crow Park, Lake Road, Keswick (CA12 5DJ). The route distance is 13 miles / 21 km and the event has a 4 hour time limit. The minimum age is 17 on race day and entry is £34 with a £2 discount for UKA affiliated runners. All finishers receive a bespoke medal and event photographs will be available to download.
The course starts adjacent to Lingholm and follows a mix of lakeside trails, rocky singletrack, footpaths and bridleways around Derwentwater. The route passes Hawse End Bay, Grange, the ancient oak woodlands and Castle Crag, then descends towards Rosthwaite before a second climb to Watendlath where a water station is located. The trail then continues past Ashness Bridge, below Falcon Crags and along lakeshore trails back into Crow Park.
The course will be well marked and marshals will be positioned at key points, so navigational skills are not required. Registration and the finish are at Crow Park while the start is at Lingholm; runners should allow time to move between these locations. Event facilities include a water station at about 12.5 km and at the finish, toilets at registration, start and finish areas, and a refreshment van at the finish.
The race is held under a Trail Running Association permit (no. 8625) and in accordance with UK Athletics rules. Prizes are awarded to the first three male and female open finishers and to first place in each age group, with prizegiving at the finish area.
