Born To Run 5 Mile Race
Born To Run is organized by the Freehold Area Running Club as an annual road race in Freehold, New Jersey. The event is listed as the 40th annual edition and takes place on the day after Thanksgiving. The main event is a 5 mile road race and there is a separate 1 mile kids' race for ages 7 to 14.
Registration is available online through RunSignUp and via a paper application. Mail-in postmark deadlines and fees are: postmarked by July 15 $35, by October 27 $40, by November 18 $45, and postmarked after November 18 $60. FARC members may preregister for $30 if postmarked by November 18; member late fee is $60. The kids' one mile entry fee is $10.
Race week includes scheduled bib and shirt pickup at House of Sport in Freehold Raceway Mall on the days before the race and pickup at the Freehold Fire Department on race day. Organizers note two donation locations at the finish line and the firehouse for contributions to a local charity. A course map is provided by the organizers. Organizers expect more than 400 runners. All runners receive a shirt and a finishers medal.
Awards are given to the top overall male and female and to the top three male and female in multiple age groups ranging from 14 and under up to 90 plus, including racewalker categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
