Boring Marathon and Virtual Race Series
The Boring Marathon is an annual running event held in Boring, Oregon. The event offers several distances to accommodate various participation levels while raising funds for local student athletes. All proceeds from the event support track and field as well as cross country programs at Sam Barlow High School and West Orient & Damascus Middle Schools.
The event features four primary distances alongside a virtual race series:
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
- 10 km
- 5 km
- Kid's Mile
The marathon course serves as an official Boston Qualifier. For younger participants, the Kid's Mile is open to children aged 12 and under at no cost, and finishers in this category receive a ribbon.
The race is organized entirely by volunteers. Participants receive a Boring tech race shirt, custom bibs, and a finisher medal. The event provides official timing and staffed aid stations along the route. In addition to the standard race amenities, the finish area includes various food and drinks, specifically featuring bagels. Returning participants and members of specific clubs, such as the Marathon Maniacs or the 50-State Marathon Club, may be eligible for registration incentives through the race director.
The event also maintains a partnership with Sneakers4Good, providing a collection point for used but functional running shoes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
