Bootleg Marathon
The Bootleg Marathon is a capped, low-amenity road race held in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, at 22 N. Jefferson Circle. The event offers two certified distances and is intended for runners aiming for qualifying times.
Distances:
- 26.2 Miles Marathon
- 13.1 Miles Half Marathon
Both courses run along the Oak Ridge Turnpike with a bike lane or shoulder. The marathon is an out-and-back route with less than 600 ft total elevation gain. The half marathon is a point-to-point route with less than 400 ft total elevation gain; a post-race shuttle is recommended but not provided. The marathon course carries USATF certification code TN21010MS. The courses are certified for age-group and Boston Marathon qualification standards, including qualification for the 2027 Boston Marathon.
The field is limited to 50 participants on a first-registered basis. The event provides no shirts, no awards, and no other amenities. Runners should expect light traffic on the turnpike and must not use headphones. Aid stations are available outbound at miles 3, 7, and 11, and on marathon return at miles 15, 19, and 23. Participants may supply their own food or support; bike or vehicle support is allowed so long as it does not provide athlete progression. Cutoff times are under 2:00 for the half and under 4:00 for the marathon; exceptions may be possible for age-group qualifiers. Pacers for the marathon must register for the half outbound; pacers from the half to finish may assume pacing without additional registration.
