Event Overview
The Bootleg Marathon takes place on September 6, 2026, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. It features two distances: marathon and half marathon. The event is certified as a Boston Marathon qualifier for the 2027 race. Participation is capped at 50 runners, with entry on a first-come, first-served basis.
Course and Logistics
Both courses use the Oak Ridge Turnpike's bike lane or shoulder. The marathon is an out-and-back route with less than 600 feet of total elevation gain. The half marathon is a point-to-point route with less than 400 feet of total elevation gain. Aid stations with water are located at specific miles. The race starts early to avoid higher temperatures.
Event Details
This is a no-frills event. There are no race shirts, awards, or other amenities. Runners will share the road with light traffic; headphones are not allowed. A portion of the race occurs before sunrise, so bright, reflective clothing and lights are recommended. Pacers are allowed but must register for the half marathon. There are cut-off times of under 2 hours for the half marathon and under 4 hours for the full marathon, though exceptions are possible. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
