BookSmiles 5K & 1 Mile Walk for Literacy
BookSmiles 5K & 1 Mile Walk for Literacy is a community running and walking event that supports BookSmiles, a nonprofit that collects and distributes books to children and teachers in the South Jersey and Philadelphia area.

The course follows Cooper River at Cooper River Park with the finish at the Cooper River track. The 5K is described as flat and fast; participants may choose to run or walk and all participants start together. Parking is available along Cooper River in nearby lots.
Registration opens April 1, 2026 and closes October 11, 2026. The registration fee is $35 per person and includes a race T-shirt with no extra fee. There is an optional early packet pickup on Friday, October 9 that will be announced later.
Awards include finisher recognition, overall and age-group prizes, and cash prizes for the top three male and female overall finishers. Event services listed include chip timing on a certified course, HD finish line video, and near-instant text messaging of finish results.
