BOOK IT in the Literary Capital
This event takes place in downtown Monroeville, known as Alabama's Literary Capital. Organized by Monroeville Main Street, the race combines physical activity with a celebration of the town's literary identity. The course is situated in the downtown area, with the starting and finish points located near 181 East Claiborne Street. Participants can choose to either run or walk the specified distance.

- 5 km run or walk
Participants are encouraged to wear costumes based on literary characters. Special recognition is given to those who choose costumes honoring authors from Monroe County or Alabama. While the costume contest is optional, awards are presented for the fastest finishers as well as for the top costumes. Registration includes a race shirt, provided while supplies last.
The race coincides with the town's Second Saturday on the Square celebration. This regional event includes various community activities following the run. Attendees can observe art displays and storytelling sessions or participate in outdoor games.
