Book It for the Olive Free Library 5K Run/Walk
The Book It for the Olive Free Library event is a 5K walk/run held on September 5, 2026 in Olivebridge, New York. The course follows the Ashokan Reservoir Promenade and offers views of the reservoir. The route is mostly flat with one uphill at the start, and much of it is closed to traffic.
The event includes overall awards and prizes for the top three finishers in standard 10-year age groups, plus an award for the best costume. Costumes are encouraged and participants may dress as characters from books, movies, TV, comics, screen plays, or fairy tales.
Families and children are welcome. Kids under 10 enter free but will not receive a shirt. Participants who register before August 19 will receive a T-shirt. Registration opens May 12, 2026 and closes September 5, 2026; day-of registration begins at 8 am. The stated registration fee is $30.00. Due to the fundraising nature of the event, no refunds will be granted.
There will be a water stop on the course. Complimentary refreshments and post-race snacks are provided courtesy of My Town Market in Stone Ridge. Timing is provided by Mid-Hudson Timing.
