The Mountain Masochist Trail Run is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2026, in Montebello, Virginia. The race begins and ends at the Montebello Campground near 15072 Crabtree Falls Hwy. Distances offered include:

  • 100K

Course and logistics

The course uses the historical MMTR layout run in reverse toward the Mount Pleasant Loop, combining older and newer trails. Runners move southward over dirt and gravel roads in the National Forest and, with recent changes, spend more time on single-track mountain trails and less on gravel roads. Near Mount Pleasant the route follows the Old Hotel Trail and old jeep roads toward Long Mountain Wayside. After the Long Mountain aid station the second half includes dirt and old logging roads plus several miles of single-track. The last aid station is at Porters Ridge, then the course descends about 3.5 miles to Route 56 and the Montebello Campground finish. The route traverses Blue Ridge areas timed near peak fall foliage. National Geographic Map #789 (Lexington / Blue Ridge Mts.) is recommended as the topographic map for the area.

Training runs and trail work are scheduled in October with dates for 2026 to be determined. A pre-race briefing is held in Montebello, and a post-race meal is provided at the finish for finishers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
