About the Event
The Mountain Masochist Trail Run (MMTR) takes place in Montebello, Virginia. The race begins and ends at the Montebello Campground on Crabtree Falls Highway.
Course Details
The course is run in a reverse direction from historical routes. It starts by heading towards the Mount Pleasant Loop, using a mix of old and new trails, before moving south over dirt and gravel roads within the National Forest. Recent changes mean runners spend more time in the mountains and on single-track trails, with less on gravel roads. The route passes along the Old Hotel Trail and old jeep roads towards the Long Mountain Wayside. The second half includes dirt roads, old logging roads, and several miles of single-track trail. The final section is a 3.5-mile downhill run from the last aid station at Porters Ridge to the finish line on Route 56 at the campground. The entire course is known for its scenery in the Blue Ridge Mountains during peak fall foliage.

Additional Information
Camping reservations for specific sites can be made during race registration. A pre-race briefing and meal, as well as a post-race meal for finishers, are typically held.
