Running Through the Decades 1980s Edition
Running Through the Decades 1980s Edition is a themed race event at SE Metro Park in Austin, TX, organized by Bigfoot Running Company. The event includes in-person and virtual options and features a pre-race costume contest, 80s music from a live DJ, and awards for overall and age-group finishers.
Distances offered
- Kids Dash - about 50 meters for ages 10 and under
- 1 Mile fun run
- 5K (3.11 miles)
- Quarter Marathon (6.55 miles)
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
Chip timing is used for the 5K, quarter marathon, and half marathon. All finishers receive a race shirt and finisher medal. Overall winners receive Bigfoot trophies, Masters (40+) receive special recognition pins, and age groups from 10 & under through 70+ receive Gold, Silver, and Bronze pins.
A pre-race costume contest awards best overall, best group, and most authentic 80s outfit. Packet pickup is available before race day and live results and awards are posted at the registration tent after finishing.
Volunteering options include a Volunteer Then Run 5K role that includes a chip-timed bib, t-shirt, and finisher medal (limited to the first five sign-ups), and full race volunteer roles that offer a shirt, VIP access, and a choice of a future race entry or a $20 Amazon digital gift card.
Courses use paved park trails with some mixed surfaces such as crushed granite and dirt paths. Aid stations provide water and support.
