Bockfest 5K
Bockfest 5K is a 5.00 km (3.1 mi) road race held in Cincinnati as part of the city’s Bockfest beer festival. The event marks the brewing tradition of Bock Beer and the arrival of spring. Bock beer is described as traditionally brewed for special occasions, often richer in nutrients and with higher alcohol content; German monks historically used it as a food substitute during Lenten fasts.
The festival around the beer began when the Hudepohl-Schoenling Brewing Company introduced Christian Moerlein Bock and expanded the launch into an annual celebration. A course map is provided in PDF format for the race route.
All registered participants receive a shirt, two drink tickets, and a Skyline Chili Cheese Coney that must be redeemed at the post race party. Finishers of the Bockfest 5K receive a medal that doubles as a bottle opener. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, determined by gun time.
The event takes place at The Banks on Saturday, March 6, 2027, and centers on the local brewing tradition and associated festival activities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
