Course and Terrain

The event is a 5-mile trail race on an out-and-back course. The route is new for the event's fifth year. It starts at the Bluewater Canyon parking lot. The first mile is along a gravel road. The course then climbs over 500 feet to the top of Bluewater Canyon. It follows an established dirt road with some rocky sections.

Location and Amenities

The race takes place at the Bluewater Canyon Trail Head on county road 29 in Bluewater, New Mexico. It is located on BLM (Bureau of Land Management) land. There are three aid stations along the route. A free fruit and beverage buffet is available at the finish area. A creek is a half-mile hike from the finish for cooling off.

Participants and Awards

There are events for runners and walkers. All finishers receive a medal, custom socks, and other items in a swag bag. Placer tee shirts are awarded to the top three male and female finishers, and the top three children aged 14 and under. Walkers also receive medals.

Registration and Beneficiary

Proceeds from registration are a direct donation to the Cibola Trail Alliance for trail work in Cibola County. Registration must be completed in advance, as there is no day-of registration.
