Blueberry Cove Half Marathon
The Blueberry Cove Half Marathon is an annual event held in Tenants Harbor, Maine, supporting the UMaine Cooperative Extension 4-H Camp and Learning Centers. The event covers a 13.1 mile course that circumnavigates the lower St. George peninsula. The route features a mix of rural back roads, gentle hills, and coastal views of the Atlantic Ocean, including landmarks such as Port Clyde and the Marshall Point Lighthouse.
The race is open to both runners and walkers, with a registration cap of 250 participants. The course includes mile markers for every mile and hydration stations positioned approximately every 2 miles. For participant convenience, bathroom facilities are located at the start and finish lines, with four additional portable toilets situated along the route.
Participants receive several event features:
- 13.1 mile run or walk
- Finisher medals for all participants
- Post-race blueberry brunch
- Awards for first-place finishers in various age categories
Additional weekend activities include a bib pick-up session on the Saturday prior to the race, which features a chowder supper with fresh ingredients from the camp garden. On-site lodging is available in the form of rustic bunkhouse-style cabins or tent spaces. All proceeds from the registration fees go toward supporting local 4-H youth programs.
