Foot Levelers Blue Ridge Marathon
The Foot Levelers Blue Ridge Marathon is a multi-event race weekend held in Roanoke, Virginia. The series is billed as "America's Toughest Road Marathon" and the course reports over 7,430 feet in elevation change. It is the only marathon that runs along the Blue Ridge Parkway and proceeds from the non profit event benefit the parkway and about a dozen local charities.
The event is owned and operated by the Roanoke Outside Foundation, which promotes outdoor activity and environmental stewardship through a conservation through recreation philosophy. Race options during the weekend include the full marathon, half marathon, Anthem Star 10k, Blue Ridge Double Marathon, Freedom First Marathon Relay, Carilion Children’s Family 1 Miler, Sunday Slow K, the Full Goat, and virtual versions of the full, half and 10k races. The Blue Ridge Double covers the full course twice and the event is supported by title sponsor Foot Levelers.
Finishers receive unique medals and shirts, and the weekend concludes with a festival like finish in downtown Roanoke where local craft beer is offered. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
